Why only is it 1.5 mg?

More is not better.

1.5 mg is the best amount to get the positive effects of melatonin and not the negative effects of sleep deprivation. Taking more than 1.5 mg a night may cause unwanted side effects which would necessitate more supplement. At POP Supplements we try to avoid vicious cycles.
